Portheras Cove is a small cove, only around 300 metres in length, but the beach it harbours is a stunning sight. The cove is backed by a steep, rocky cliff face and the bay is fringed with a sandy beach. The crystal clear waters of the bay make Portheras Cove a popular spot for swimmers, surfers and kayakers alike. The waves here are usually gentle, perfect for those looking for an easy swim, but if the conditions are right you can find some great surfing here.

At low tide, the cove opens up to reveal a rocky seabed full of fascinating marine life. The rocks are covered in a variety of colourful seaweeds, anemones and starfish, and the surrounding waters are full of crabs, fish and the occasional seal. The area is also a popular spot for rock pooling, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the local sea life.

The beach is also a great spot for a picnic, with plenty of space to relax and admire the view. There are also a few benches dotted around the beach, offering the perfect spot to take in the scenery. At the western end of the cove, a small stream runs down to the beach, providing a natural source of freshwater.

The area around Portheras Cove is great for walking. A footpath runs along the top of the cliff, offering breathtaking views of the bay. The path takes you all the way to St. Levan's Point, where the ruins of an old chapel can be found, as well as a stunning view of the beach.

Portheras Cove is a great destination for those looking for a quiet, peaceful spot to relax and take in the beauty of the Cornish coastline. The beach is perfect for swimming, fishing, surfing, walking and picnicking, and is a great spot for families.
