Gwithian is a village located in the parish of St. Ives in Cornwall, England. It is situated on the southwest coast of the county, about 10 miles from the city of Truro. The village is a popular holiday destination and is home to the Gwithian Beach, a stunning stretch of golden sand and crystal clear waters.

Gwithian has a long history, dating back to the Iron Age when it was the site of a British hill fort. It is believed that the fort was built to protect the area from raiders coming from the sea. In the 5th century, the village was recorded in the Domesday Book as “Guitheia”. During the Medieval period, the village was a thriving port, with fishing as its main industry.

The village is home to a range of local amenities, including a post office, pub, café, shops, and a beachside café. There are also two churches in the village, St. Ives Church and St. John the Baptist Church.

Gwithian Beach is the main attraction of the village and is a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming and surfing. The beach is backed by sand dunes and is a great place to explore. The beach is home to some of Cornwall's best surf spots, and it is also a popular spot for windsurfing and kite-surfing.

The village also has plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as walking and cycling. The South West Coast Path runs through the village, offering stunning views of the coastline. The nearby Godrevy National Nature Reserve is a great place to spot wildlife and explore the area's nature.

Gwithian has a number of events and festivals throughout the year, including the Gwithian Beach Festival which is held in August each year. The festival celebrates the village's maritime heritage and includes live music, food, and craft stalls.
